Frequently asked questions

Which image formats can I convert?

You can input static JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP files, and output to JPEG, PNG, or WebP — any format other than the input's.

Are my images sent anywhere?

No. Images are converted right in your browser and never uploaded anywhere. Your files never leave your device.

What happens when I convert a transparent PNG to JPEG?

JPEG doesn't support transparency. Transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose in the settings.

Does the quality setting apply to every output?

The quality value applies to JPEG and WebP output. It has no effect on PNG output.

Does my photo keep its location data?

No. The pixels are re-encoded into a new file, so the original metadata — including EXIF and GPS data — is not preserved.

Can I convert animated GIFs or WebP files?

No. GIF, WebP, and APNG files with multiple frames are rejected at the selection step. Only static images are supported for now.
